Advocate for our Education

I am proud of the way that our school leaders have responded in the wake of the greatest adversity imaginable. While the current situation is far from perfect my students, our students are learning. I pray that the silver lining to our great loss will be a school system that will perform better that ever and always remember the open arms of neighboring schools and districts.

Lets make sure we follow through, in a timely manner, on rebuilding our schools. I promise to advocate for breaking ground on the new Waverly Elementary, Waverly Middle and McEwen High Schools as soon as possible. Our students and teachers deserve our devotion to creating the best possible learning environment everyday.

As county leaders, we should all be invested in our educational system. My career in education has taught me the importance of industry partnerships in student success. I promise to always advocate for your student. I will work with our local industries to provide bridges to meaningful training and education through apprenticeships and internships. Not all students need a four year degree, but they do all need training, during and after high school, that will lead them into a purposeful and respectable career that will lead them to a lifetime of happiness and productive citizenship. I will work tirelessly to promote our students to our industries in our communities. We can grow our own future workforce here.

Our county ranks in the bottom 3rd of Tennessee for per-capita education. We must focus on competing with our neighboring counties to provide students that compete for High Skill, High Wage and High Demand careers, many of which are here in our own county.
